2: Contrasts Between Kingdom & Grace
2-Contrasts Between Kingdom & Grace (ODF Text Document)

“Our purpose here is to provide you with information that will better help you understand your Bible. We have really no alternative motive, we’re not out to get your  money, we don’t want to try to sell you anything, but we do want to give you some info. that will help you understand your Bible and I believe the info. is readily available to those who will believe the Bible means what it says, where it says it, to whom it says it.”

“15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

KINGDOM DOCTRINE. “THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND”. THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM.

“23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.” Matthew 4:23

“35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” Matthew 9:35

“5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give” Matthew 10:5-8

The gospel of the Kingdom could not have included the death, burial and resurrection for they didn’t even know that at that time:

“21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.” Matthew 16:21-22

GRACE DOCTRINE. THE DISPENSATION OF THE GRACE OF GOD. THE GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD.

The good news that we are saved by believing that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised for our justification.

“25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.” Romans 4:25

“24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:” 1 Corinthians 15:1-5

KINGDOM DOCTRINE. “THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND”. THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM.

John preached the gospel of the Kingdom. He encourages them to repent of the thought that they are part of the kingdom simply by being Abraham’s seed.

“In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judæa,
2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4 And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.
5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judæa, and all the region round about Jordan,
6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:” Matthew 3:1-8

“9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.” Mark 1:9

“7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?” Luke 3:7

“18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 ¶ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20

“16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:16-18

Jesus Christ said;
“46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” Luke 24

We see that when these “devout jews” were gathered in Jerusalem at Pentecost, one of the holy jewish feast days, Peter followed Jesus Christ’s ministry to a t:

“36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:36-38

GRACE DOCTRINE. THE DISPENSATION OF THE GRACE OF GOD. THE GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD.

One baptism:

“4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in
one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through
all, and in you all.” Ephesians 4:4-7

“13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:13

(This is a spiritual baptism performed by the Holy Spirit the moment you trust the Gospel of the grace of God. No water required or desired.)

KINGDOM DOCTRINE. “THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND”. THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM.

Incl. the keeping of the law.

“16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.” Matthew 19:16-21

GRACE DOCTRINE. THE DISPENSATION OF THE GRACE OF GOD. THE GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD.

Not under the law:

“6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. “ Romans 7 (The whole chapter)

“8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. “ Ephesians 2:8-9

KINGDOM DOCTRINE. “THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND”. THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM.

Summary:
The gospel of the kingdom (for Israel) incl.:
Repentance
Water baptism
Keeping the law

“The repentance had to do with turning, having a change of mind, about who Christ was, and how you could be a part of this kingdom.”

“21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.” Matthew 19:21-22

“In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judæa,
2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.” Matthew 3:1-3

“17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17

“15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” Mark 1:15

“Water baptism was for the remission of sins looking at the time where Christ would come again and establish the covenant with the nation Israel.”

“The keeping of the law had to do with obedience to the law God had given them (Israel)”

“Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat:
3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.” Matthew 23:2-3

“19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20

GRACE DOCTRINE. THE DISPENSATION OF THE GRACE OF GOD. THE GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD.

“21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:” Romans 3

“There are those who think the church (the body of Christ) started in Acts 2 and they take the repentance and the water baptism, and yet the Bible says that “all that believed were together, and had all things common”

“44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.” Acts 2:44-45

“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” Romans 10:1-4

“The Gospel of the grace of God does not incl.
Water baptism, keeping the commandments, forsaking what you have and selling out, turning from your sins and turning over a new leaf, giving your life to Jesus or committing your life to the Lord”

Todays issue: Trust

“12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,” Ephesians 1

“8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. “ Ephesians 2:8-9

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:” 1 Corinthians 15:1-5

“Everything that needed to be done for your salvation was done 2000 years ago when Jesus Christ hung on that cross and died for your sins.”
