LOST BELIEVERS 2/3 (E.C. Moore)
“6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-9
“4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.” Galatians 5:4
Any individual who is trying to keep the law, to be saved, cannot be in the grace of God at the same time.
“10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.” Galatians 3.10
There is no possible way that you can be accurseth from God, accurseth by the law, and at the same time be blessed and walking in the grace and the salvation of the Lord. If you’re trying to keep the law to get to heaven, then you’re accursed. The law has cursed you, the law isn’t trying to save you and helping you get to heaven, the law is bringing you down, because it’s just a school master to bring you to Christ (Galatians 3:24-25)
There are people in the church; the overall visible church today, that are lost. They believe in a God, a Lord and a Saviour, but they’re not saved, and their testimony in many cases is that they aren’t saved.
“5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” 2 Corinthians 13:5
Are you in the faith? People say ‘what faith are you'(?) I’m of Christ faith… Jesus Christ went to Calvary for me, Jesus Christ did the work of salvation for me, Jesus Christ paid for my sins at Calvary, Jesus Christ endured to the end for me, Jesus Christ’s faith was tested for me. I’m of his faith.
People say that the doctrine to the church which is the body of Christ, is in Matthew-Mark-Luke-John. If that be true, then look at this verse:
“46 ¶ And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” Luke 6:46
What did He say for them to do?
“19 ¶ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:” Matthew 6:19
Do you lay up treasures upon earth? Do you put money in the bank? Do you buy bonds? Do you have insurance?
Then why do you call him, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which He says, IF the doctrine to the church the body of Christ is found in Matthew-Mark-Luke-John?
“17 ¶ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:17-19
You that call yourself as being in the grace of the Lord, do you keep the commandments? Are you guilty of breaking those commandments?! How about you people that believe and claim in 1 John 1:9. You say ‘I repent of my sins and confess my sins every day’, are you telling me, that you go, the next day after confessing your sins, with the intent that ‘I can break one of the least of these commandments, and then confess my sins tonight and everything will be alright?
We need to ‘rightly divide the word of truth’;
“15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
“Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: [that’s a place of authority unto the law, they teach the law]
3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.” Matthew 23:1-3
In other words, Jesus Christ taught his disciples to do and observe the teaching of the scribes and the Pharisees pertaining to the law, BUT He said “do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not”, and so people say ‘well, ‘that’s just up to the cross’…. Are you telling me that Peter, James and John and the other Apostles, the day of Pentecost, Acts 2 etc. that they made up their minds that they were not to observe the teachings of Matthew 5, 6 and 23? No, now you know better than that…
Why do you that say you are saved by the grace of God today, and yet you claim the passages out of Matthew-Mark-Luke-John, why do you not do the things He said do?
Luke 12:
Jesus Christ;
“22 ¶ And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.”
Somebody say that’s just spiritual. How can I put on my physical body, something that is spiritual?
“23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more raiment.
24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?”
Why don’t you who say you are saved by the grace of God, and yet say that the doctrine to the church which is the body of Christ is in Matthew-Mark-Luke-John, quit your job and do what He said in the passage?! Are you telling me that what He taught you would be wrong?
“25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe , O ye of little faith?
29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31 ¶ But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.” Luke 12:22-33
Jesus Christ told them to sell out, did they believe it was spiritual or literal?
Acts 2:
“41 ¶ Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them three thousand souls.”
We got the group together up to this point… The belief is that the church which is the body of Christ started in Matthew 27, 28 or Acts 2 or whatever, but nevertheless, the point is that it is there, it’s just a mystery. There’s no mystery involved in this…
Jesus Christ said; “(…)preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved(…) Mark 16:15-16
In Acts 2 they said ‘what must we do?’ They’re not asking ‘what must we do to be saved’, whatever they’re asking, they said ‘what must we do?’ Under the circumstances we see it after having heard the message of Peter, they’re saying ‘what must we do?’
“38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins(…)”
“42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.” Acts 2:41-45
They did what He told them to do. If the doctrine of the church which is the body of Christ is in Matthew-Mark-Luke-John, He said unto you; “why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”
Show me some passages in Romans thru Philemon where what Paul had to say superseded what the 12 disciples had to say? Why don’t you show me some passages where what he had to say was an improvement over what they said? In other words, if the church which is the body of Christ is there in Matthew 27, 28, Acts 2-7 etc, but remaining a mystery, and then later on the doctrine of the Apostle contradicted what they said, and it did (!), why don’t you show me in the scripture where that is true?
I can show you where Paul went up to Jerusalem and preached unto them that Gospel which he preaches among the gentiles, and he did it unto them privately etc. I can show you in Galatians 2, where the 12 disciples saw the grace that was given unto the Apostle Paul. They gave him the right hand of fellowship; that they they would go to the circumcision, he unto the uncircumcision. I can show you that, but I cannot show you where they agreed with the Apostle Paul; “that we’re to stop doing what God told us to do and start doing what Paul told us to do”.
The Lord Jesus Christ is the teacher of the 12, and the same Jesus Christ, except in a glorified body and in a glorified position, is the same teacher of the Apostle Paul.
“8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made the fathers:” Romans 15:8
Matthew-Mark-Luke-John: The ministry is to the circumcision/the nation Israel. Jesus Christ teaches them.
After the resurrection, He’s with them for 40 days and teaches them, and they watched him ascend up. Then Stephen sees Him in the third heaven;
“55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.” Acts 7:55-56
And later on, in Acts 9, He appears to the Apostle Paul, who was Saul at that point. He gave Saul/Paul a message that had never been heard before. Jesus Christ showed Saul that He had died for his sins. Peter did not know that. He sent the Apostle Paul forth, so there’s a period of time (the dispensation of the grace of God) which is parenthetical. The dispensation of the grace of God is not some improvement of Matthew-Mark-Luke-John. What was preached in Matthew-Mark-Luke-John is gonna be continued after the dispensation of the grace of God.
Matthew 24: Jesus Christ speaking to the 12 disciples;
“14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
The end: Second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
“15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)”
The abomination of desolation: The Antichrist.
“16 Then let them which be in Judæa flee into the mountains:
17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.”
In other words, the ministry in Matthew-Mark-Luke-John is carried on after the dispensation of the grace of God. That which is in the dispensation of the grace of God, didn’t change the ministry before and after the dispensation of the grace of God. The doctrine concerning the dispensation of the grace is found in Paul’s epistles: Romans thru Philemon. It is FOR and TO you gentiles, it is FOR and TO the church which is the body of Christ. It has nothing to do with some improvement over that which Jesus Christ had already taught them.
“3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:3-4
You either trust in him alone to save you, or else you are trusting yourself to fulfill what He gave you to do.
“12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,” Ephesians 1:12-13
Will you trust in Christ? Will you look back to Calvary and believe that He died for your sins? Will you look back there and abide by the doctrine that Jesus Christ became your sin at Calvary, your sins were judged at Calvary; that God puts his sin upon His Son and God poured out his wrath upon your sins at Calvary, and that salvation is free to you right now by what He did for you, and not by what you do for him? Will you trust Him today as your Lord and Saviour? Will you finish it right now? Will you commit your salvation to the Lord Jesus Christ, and quit trying? Start trusting, and quit trying, and God will save you.
